Find the right sleeping bag for each family member. Compare Oztent Hamilton Junior, Standard, and Rivergum XL bags to match size, comfort, and budget.
Quick answer
For family camping, match the sleeping bag to each person's size. Oztent's Hamilton range offers compact junior and standard adult bags, while the Rivergum XL suits larger adults or those wanting extra space.
Size matters for comfort and warmth
A sleeping bag that is too long lets heat escape, while one that is too short restricts movement. For kids, a junior-specific bag keeps them warmer and safer. Adults should consider their height and sleeping style before choosing between standard and extra-large options.
Temperature ratings and seasonality
Oztent does not publish temperature ratings for these bags, so you must consider the expected conditions. For summer and mild three-season camping, the Hamilton range works well. For colder nights or campers who sleep cold, adding a liner or choosing a bag with more fill is wise.
Decision rules
- For children under 5 feet tall: Choose the Hamilton Junior. It is compact and built for smaller family members, so kids stay warm without excess fabric.
- For average-sized adults: Pick the Hamilton Standard. It fits most adults and offers a good balance of comfort and packability for family trips.
- For larger adults or those who want more room: Select the Rivergum XL. Its removable liner adds washability and comfort, and the auto-lock zippers improve security. Check the Rivergum XL dimensions if you are over 6'3" or need extra shoulder room.
